Define a Problem
The purpose of this project was to see how trusses work in bridges. It was to see how the forces act on the members in the bridge. Also to practice using bridge designer. The constraints for the project include that the bridge may not be 32.5 meters above the high-water level and can't have more than 120 members and 50 joints. The cost of the bridge can't be more than $400,000 and must hold the load of a 480N truck. My goal for this project is to make a stable bridge less than 400,000 dollars and can hold the load of the truck.

I learned that bridges are very expensive. I also learned that there are many different bridge designs, but some are more stable than others. Lastly I learned hollow beams aren't stable.
If a beam is under compression or diagonal than it is easier to break. In this case use a stronger material to prevent it from breaking or bending. Also long beams are prone to snap.
If the forced tension and compression are working against each other than the forces will balance out. The forces working against each other makes the bridge stiffer which makes it bend less.
