Beginning
The reason for this project was to create a setup that shows what happens in a copier when paper jams which leads to the siren going off. The constraints are we had to bulid the circuit in multisim and then breadboard.
Circuits
At first it was hard to understand the wiring diagram but once we finally understood how it works it becam easy to read and build it. Also it was pretty simple to integrate the flip flop once we figured out pins of the ic.
- The resistors were used to limit the current going into the sensors on the FT construction.
- The purpose of the combinational logic circuit is to tell the buzzer and LED when to sound based on the inputs at that time.
- The flip flop was used as an event detector so once the buzzer went off we could activate a switch that would turn off the buzzer.
- This is because the LED is just connected to the logic circuit so when specific inputs are on it's a 1 and when it's changed it goes back to 0. But the buzzer is wired through the flip flop so when it is activated it makes it a 1 and stays a 1 until you clear it.
Conclusion
This project is very different from ones we have completed in the past. One reason is we had to build the sensor (copy jam model) and then wire it to the breadboard. We also had to use a flip flop gate in wiring. Another thing is we had to use an external power supply connected to the lights on the sensor for it to work. Lastly we had to use the little lights on the side of the breadboard to see if it works.
